Massage therapy is the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of normalizing those tissues and consists of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding and/or causing movement of/or to the body.
The basic philosophy of massage therapy embraces the concept of vis Medicatrix naturae, which is aiding the body to heal itself and is aimed at achieving or increasing health and well -being.
Massage is known to affect the circulation of blood and the flow of blood and lymph, reduce muscular tension or flaccidity, affect the nervous system through simulation or sedation and enhance tissue healing.
At Ariya Aesthetics, we have created a serene, clean, spa atmosphere for your relaxing and therapeutic massage that is second to none. We naturally blend the science and art behind this modality to offer you the ideal massage that is specifically designed for you.

A system of long gliding strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, generally in the direction of blood flow toward the heart, and sometimes combined with active and passive movements of the joints. It is used to promote general relaxation, improve circulation and range of motion, and relieve muscle tension. Swedish massage is the most commonly used form of massage.
Deep tissue massage
It is used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension using slow strokes, direct pressure, or friction directed across the grain of the muscles. It is applied with greater pressure and to deeper layers of muscle than Swedish, which is why it is called deep tissue and is effective for chronic muscular tension.
Techniques that are similar to Swedish and deep tissue, but are specially adapted to deal with the effects of athletic performance on the body and the needs of athletes regarding training, performing, and recovery from injury.
A form of deep massage that is applied to individual muscles. It is used primarily to release trigger points (intense knots of muscle tension that refer pain to other parts of the body), and also to increase blood flow. It is often used to reduce pain. Trigger point massage and myotherapy are similar forms.
Lomi Lomi Hawaiian Massage
The word Lomi Lomi simply means massage. It is a unique healing massage derived from the ancient Polynesians and more specifically the master healers of Hawaii.
It works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, totally nurturing the body and, enabling the recipient to relax, give in and simply be.This flowing with total energy, using the long continuous, flowing strokes, relaxes the entire being, assisting in a letting go of old beliefs, patterns and behaviours thatcause limitations and which are stored in the cells of our body. A Lomi Lomi usually commences with a stillness between the practitioner and client, often with the practitioners hands gently resting on the clients back. The masseuse then works very intuitively with the client. In this respect there is no set format or sequence for the massage and no two massages will ever be identical.

Meet our Massage Therapists
A 2006 graduate of the Hesser College Massage and Bodywork program, Damian began his private
practice and tenure at the women’s wellness center Green Mountain at Fox Run (Ludlow, Vermont) with
a strong interest in deep tissue modalities, and has undergone advanced training in Neuromuscular
Therapy, Myofascial Release and postural analysis. During a brief hiatus, he discovered extraordinary
inspiration in Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian bodywork), wholly realizing the profound restorative impact massage
can have not only on one’s body, but their entire being. Guided by two distinct traditions of bodywork,
Damian enjoys tailoring customized treatment plans for his clients, integrating a multitude of massage
and bodywork applications into his practice.
